Another publication noting the European drone sightings are flawed, crediting the analysis of Mick West's Metabunk

Oh and the G word gets a mention!

FR24 has launched their first automated airport livestream. It uses ADS-B data to track aircraft and includes ATC audio. It's pretty slick, with excellent aircraft tracking.

If you're in Denmark, there is a story in Frihedsbrevet with the latest twists & turns with the alleged drones.

This publication is known for its investigative journalism, at the outset of the "drone" hysteria they were questioning the credibility of the panic.

The install version that can be powered on all the time, but is still not suitable as a single system for a key airport has antennas located usually high up, like this.

It's all coming out now, airports in Norway are "protected" by DJI AeroScope. A key airport needs a higher end system.

It's possible like Gatwick in 2018, that some if not all could be using the portable version which wouldn't routinely be turned on.

Drone-kaoset: System var nede ved norske flyplasser
Samme kveld som det ble observert mulige droner ved Oslo Lufthavn, var det kinesiske systemet for droneovervåkning nede.

Oh dear, in the middle of a drone drama Danish police get a big FPV drone.

The lettering is a good idea but it's not enough this needs to have ADS-B or a unique strobe colour/sequence.

Ny politi-drone skal hjælpe med grænsekontrol
Syd- og Sønderjyllands Politi har indkøbt en drone, der skal patruljere ved den dansk-tyske grænse.

A small insight into Gatwick 2018 given the current drone dramas in Europe.

These e-mail snippets show the frustration of the UK Home Office as LGW hour after hour after hour, after request, after request, failed to provide video evidence, finally providing "potato" quality.

The latest news from Denmark...

The imaginary Danish drones, very much in keeping with imaginary drones are proving bloody inconvenient to prove.

The question is how many millions of €s will be spaffed before the authorities realise they're imaginary?

So these are the "drones" that closed Vilnius Airport, it seems balloons have a tendency to be reported as drones.
noelreports.com
Lithuanian border guards intercepted 11 balloons carrying contraband cigarettes from Belarus. The operation disrupted Vilnius airport for nearly 30 hours. Around 18,000 packs of cigarettes were seized during this unusual “tobacco air drop.”

Not true of all those facilities depending on the country but reckless use should of course be tackled appropriately.

You'd be shooting down a civilian aircraft in most cases. Though some of those arguing for escalation weren't just arguing for reactive actions.
uavhive.bsky.social
No, the people advocating for military action have no idea how drones work, that said at least one airport deployed snipers demonstrating there are some in authority that are drunk on power and overreaction.
uavhive.bsky.social
Kyle makes good night sky observations, key people in the drone industry have been saying the sightings are not drones, mistakes are happening at airports but there are too many influential social accounts calling for shooting things down or escalating towards war.
uavhive.bsky.social
As with Copenhagen & Aalborg, Munich was not an airport with a suitable counter drone system, so it's very likely mistaken sightings have led to closures.

All those airports have rolled in portable systems afterwards, then suddenly mistakes stop.

Do you want to see the capability that is now finally at Munich Airport but should have been there all along?

Of course you do, by the look it is the MODAR-BC by OptoPrecision.

I'd wager now the drone reports will stop, or if they don't there will be evidence for once.
uavhive.bsky.social
In my view, officials in Denmark that were pushing a UAP conspiracy theory of drone ships as serious shouldn't be in the job.

The idea there are large drones being launched with no detection that then decide to illuminate ICAO lighting is pure idiocy.

Last year the conspiracy was Iranian ships.

Every airport has incidents, often with tourists flying drones closer than they should. The usual process is a C-UAS system directs police to the pilot to have a word.

What's being exposed in the EU, is airports having put profit over passenger safety & not having bought C-UAS.

The lack of reports from Munich Airport tonight I'd wager means that they have begun to get their sh#t together and have briefed staff better against reporting lights.

I can't share it (yet) as it would endanger the camera person due to being able to geolocate, but I've seen video within the last hours of what a real Russian drone attack looks like & they're not lit up, they can be heard & it's far more terrifying not seeing them.
uavhive.bsky.social
These will 100% be pointed at normal aircraft traffic. If a GNSS jamming mode is picked there could be collateral damage.
uavhive.bsky.social
I used press email for sUAS News to push for evidence inc. EO/IR from the police & military, also sent them some tips on verifying sightings.
uavhive.bsky.social
It won't stop when they're almost certainly reacting to lights in the sky.

Then there's the tactical incompetence of deploying helicopters over the airport adding to the sightings.
