It’s one of my favorite movies but I always thought that scene underscores that whether your marriage lasts is really heavily dependent on luck just like meeting that person is dependent on luck. And I hope they last! But actually don’t know how he puts up w her 🤣

There is no point in fighting ppl about alchemised. They've made up their minds and decided all their misinformation is correct, and nothing Sen says even now would change their minds. Better to just celebrate Sen and their AMAZING achievement and creation.

As I struggle with my writing and my association with the canon material, I try to remember that 1. People come to writing in different ways and that’s fine. And 2. The DHR writing community has almost universally categorically rejected that person and their work and writing cannot properly

in the DHR fandom and, if you can just ignore the hype around it, and quietly do what you love, it’ll die down and people will move on to the next thing. And I hope and trust that writers like Sen and Julie and Bridgitte have long and successful careers separate from fic.

So personally, I’m just going to enjoy what I enjoy and also keep enjoying smaller writers and BEING a smaller writer who has no interest in traditional publishing or growing into full-time traditional publishing. Fic is still plentiful and free and really fucking good. We’re so, so lucky

They’re looking at numbers and capitalizing on established fandoms and readership. It’s no accident that they’re pulling from the top (white, straight) ao3 ships. Profit is all they actually care about at the end of the day. And you’re right, it takes away from Sen and our other amazing writers.

It’s sad but Dramione fic origins was always going to be absolutely central to the marketing of these books because publishers see ao3 and the built-in fandoms as cash cows. They’re not just discovering talented writers and amazing stories.

I don’t know how to explain this without sounding mean because that is not at all what this is about but omg i need Alchemised to be promoted purely on the basis of Alchemised. They need to stop bringing up the fanfic connection it is doing a disservice to everyone, SenLin Yu included.

I do kind of want to say that everyone currently steaming about the fanfic invasion of SFF owes me book reports about three contemporary reads they did like which weren’t written by them or someone they like personally but I’m not the boss of anyone.
