i have been reading Tom Ricks’ “Fighting the Good War” which is a military analysis of the civil rights movement, and one thing that comes abundantly across is that movement leaders and ordinary people made it a practice to refuse to fall into despair and cynicism.

we shouldn't annex Greenland and we should give voting congressional representation (easiest way is statehood, still) to the residents of the US's five colonies and one district without it. (American Samoans should be granted full citizenship, not just nonvoting nationals, imo). Reject insular cases

I'm not taking any stance on the validity and I certainly am not here to lecture the people of Minneapolis on how to endure the unendurable, but people aren't screaming that nonviolence isn't going to work because it has no history of success, they're screaming because it does & people hate it.
I think some posters on here missed that "getting punched in the face, repeatedly, by goon security services and not directly punching back" has been a core tenet of just about every successful nonviolent resistance movement in history
