The Syrian Civil War lasted FOURTEEN YEARS. The US is much larger than Syria and many more people internationally have an interest in watching us kill each other.

I feel like a lot of people also operate with a sort of flattened mindset where “this is horrific” becomes “things can’t get any worse; there’s nothing to lose” and actually there is a lot to lose and things really, really can get worse.

People like to talk big because they think violence will be cathartic and like… “cathartic” and “a good idea” are not at all the same thing.

Apparently the lack of lock is baked into the Bluesky protocol so I’m afraid in my head I’m always a little bit just biding my time here and waiting for something better. My mourning for the loss of Real Twitter is ongoing.
