“Bad jokes” - Sallah

I do legal and business stuff.
Police across the country have a generational opportunity to get the public back on their side and while this in isolation is good, thus far they’re digging themselves a deeper hole.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara: "People have had enough. This is the third shooting in less than 3 weeks. The MPD went the entire year last year recovering about 900 guns from the street, arresting hundreds of violent offenders, and we didn't shoot anyone ... this is not sustainable."

The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.

I recall hearing from a vet who was in either Iraq or Afghanistan that one of the most annoying things was when locals would throw balloons (or other containers) full of motor oil and sand because it would block windscreens and was a bitch to clean.

Can any vets here confirm?
This administration is cooked. Literally no one is scared of them.

@mikiesherrill.bsky.social was just on today’s stream as well, hell yes.

Again, I cannot emphasize enough how this is the EXACT kind of venue that Dems should be working to get on. Like 100k people as a captive audience and you don’t need to talk politics!
So @govwesmoore.bsky.social is currently on a stream with @rhyall.bsky.social talking about the incoming storm and this is the EXACT kind of media Dems need to make an effort to be on.

The great irony being that this type of community is what they claim as the goal of their regressive project, a return to the 60’s where (in their eyes) peaceful neighborhoods lived in solidarity.
These people cannot imagine being such a part of a community that the bicycle shop mourns you. It's as alien to them as a language they don't speak.

CA has a lot of stupid gun laws but one of the best is the dual-action trigger requirement on handguns.
From the NY Post. You know they are really scrambling when they are running "The gun was no angel" stories.

It’s actually impressive to express your disdain for three different amendments in just one sentence.
DOOCY: What's your message this morning to Alex Pretti's parents?

NOEM: I grieve for them. We can't have individuals that are impeding law enforcement operations and then showing up with guns and no ID

That’s a very generous editorialization of what is really just Bartiromo’s usual affectation and an acknowledgement of the baseline facts while still not acknowledging the entire reality from *the video*
wow -- Maria Bartiromo seems to be legit upset about the killing of Alex Pretti. It's very rare for her to be offsides with the Trump administration.

Telling that she got ratio’d that hard *on twitter*
This is who legacy media keeps saying is the answer to Democrats’ challenges. But like her vote 48 hours ago to increase ICE funding, this is not a viable political program in 2026

It’s worth stating plainly that there is currently a US Senator from Pennsylvania who retains his seat despite having a stroke-induced brain injury and there is no mechanism for his constituents to remove him.

A civil war in the US likely spills over globally in the sense that we would almost certainly see some very odd stuff like Ukraine’s now very modern defense industry becoming a supplier to the resistance.
A civil war in the US very quickly spills over the Canadian border and probably draws them into the war one way or another.

To have this extremely unusual order in hand day-of is astonishing.

Are democrats unable to pronounce the letter “A?”
It's simple: the DHS bill isn't going to pass if its lawlessness isn't reined in.
Democrats sought common sense reforms in the Department of Homeland Security spending bill, but because of Republicans’ refusal to stand up to President Trump, the DHS bill is woefully inadequate to rein in the abuses of ICE. I will vote no.

This is empirically true and also not a case against responsible gun ownership.

That being said do not buy a gun without 1) knowing firearm safety inside and out and 2) getting at least basic training on how you use it.
under most circumstances a gun will not make you safer. it will be used as evidence that your death was justified.

Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now

If you’re someone who is squeamish about 2A stuff at a minimum find a friend who isn’t and hit up a range just to get acquainted. They’re literally the safest place you can be around guns because range officers don’t play around.

So not only was he legally carrying, they disarmed him *before* shooting him.

I think I’m going to step away for awhile before I say something I’ll regret.
Moments before the first shot is fired, this federal agent can be seen retreating with a gun. It appears to match the general appearance of the firearm posted by DHS, including the red dot sight. This agent’s back is turned when the first shot occurs. x.com/BillMelugin_...

Experts who have followed authoritarian regimes abroad can tell you a lot about day-after reprisals to mass movements, which look a hell of a lot like today's killing
