I’m running for Congress because we need leaders who will fight, not fold. I recognize this moment, and I’m ready to meet it. #FightDontFold #LanderForNYC #LanderForCongress
Standing outside 26 Federal Plaza this morning to call out a quiet injustice: asylum seekers facing pretermission without a fair hearing.

This is the federal government denying due process. We must organize and pursue legal avenues to stop it.

ICE must be abolished. It has become a lawless, rogue agency. Federal law enforcement agencies must follow the law, if they're going to have any credibility enforcing it.

We are demanding justice for Renee Good and the prosecution of ICE agent Jonathan Ross for her murder.

Sanctuary cities protect our neighbors, welcome new ones, and foster the American Dream. The President doesn't decide where federal money is spent — Congress does. And in Congress, I will work to defend New York and our vibrant immigrant communities.

Iranian women are courageously leading the call for the right to choose their own leadership and live free from repression — at enormous personal risk. It is profoundly inspiring, and echoing across the globe.

Then they came for the City Council data analysts.

We are witnessing the steps toward authoritarianism, more each week.

This morning at 7am I joined @nynurses.bsky.social on the picket line at Mt. Sinai, where nurses are on strike for a fair contract. These are the workers who keep our healthcare system running.

“Beth Israel is not just a building. It is a witness [to] Jewish persistence in a place where Jews have lived as a tiny minority for generations, carving out space for faith & community … in the Deep South.

To see it burned is to feel a familiar Jewish nausea.”

An arsonist torched a Mississippi synagogue. It feels hauntingly familiar.
A rabbi who served The Temple in Atlanta, bombed in 1958, reflects on arson at a Jackson, Miss. synagogue — and how history repeats itself.

I have been honored to call the Working Families Party my political home for 25 years. NY-10 has the most WFP voters in not only the city, but also the state. The district has been a pivotal space for the growth of @nywfp.bsky.social.

In the spring I joked that the real winner of the Mayor's race was @ny4childcare.bsky.social thanks to their organizing for universal childcare. Today's announcement is the culmination of that work.
The goal of the multiyear plan, which Ms. Hochul is expected to introduce alongside the mayor in an appearance Thursday morning and will be a part of her State of the State address on Jan. 13, would be to offer universal access to children statewide, her office said.

Congratulations to Julie Menin on her historic selection to lead the NYC Council. I am deeply inspired by the thought of our first Muslim Mayor and first Jewish Speaker working together to fight on behalf of all New Yorkers.

I'm sickened and heartbroken by ICE shooting an unarmed woman in the head in Minneapolis. We can never accept this violence as normal or accept anything short of justice for these victims. We will continue to show up — together — to protect each other.

Listening to members of our community must be a priority. Showing up for members of our community must be a priority.

Great neighbors, like Michael and Edward, are part of why I’m proud to call this city my home. We will fight, not fold - for ALL New Yorkers.

We’ve seen what happens when a reckless American President tries to run a foreign country on behalf of rich oil executives.

Trump’s corrupt & illegal actions jeopardize the lives of Americans, the stability of the region, and the rule of law.
January 3, 2026 at 6:24 PM
We cannot let this president drag us into more endless wars that risk the lives of American service members and civilians abroad.

The attack last night on Venezuela was unnecessary and unauthorized. The President’s actions are reckless and illegal.

Zohran’s inauguration brimmed w/the energy that NYC is “a shining beacon of possibility” per @jumaane.bsky.social.

Amidst the darkness of authoritarianism, inequality & hate, we have a chance to show what’s possible.

That’s always been our mission as New Yorkers—it was profoundly renewed today.

Love the recent appointments!

Ahmed Tigani is without doubt one of the most decent, hardest working public servants. Great for DOB.

No better Chief Climate Officer pick possible than Louise Yeung. Our city’s future says thank you.

First-rate picks. A hopeful and promising start.
Welcome to A New Era, Ahmed Tigani and Louise Yeung!

We’re running through the tape in the NYC Comptroller’s office!

Yesterday, we put out our final audit for the term, and it was a doozy.

And we submitted a final report (required by the City Charter) on the impact of our audits over the past four years.

Thrilled by choice of Kamar Samuels for Schools Chancellor. Got to know him when he was Supt for D13 in BK (before D3 in Manh). An elem-school teacher & middle-school principal in the BX before that.

Smart, principled, effective.
Knows & loves what schools can do.

The Trump Admin is wantonly abusing executive power & conducting warrantless spying.

But Congressmembers including Dan Goldman handed him the ability to do it by voting against a warrant requirement for using NSA surveillance of U.S. citizens last year.
