Sketches of the festival by Cincinnati Urban Sketchers included sketches in ink, graphite, and watercolor.

Six hardy sketchers braved the traffic, parking, and festival crowds to gather on the Purple People Bridge for a view of the riverboats at the Public Landing.

Cincinnati’s own Belle of Cincinnati and River Queen were front and center, with nearly a dozen other boats keeping them company.

Excellent outing to the Heart of Northside today! Great work, everyone, and thanks for coming! #urbansketching #urbansketchers

Heart of Northside is headquartered in this 19th century church. Their mission is to improve the dietary opportunities and habits of the community, resulting in better cardiac health. The building is used as a community centerpiece, hosting concerts, meetings, and events as well.

The Throwdown. Twenty or more sketchbooks of all sizes depict the Heart of Northside, inside, outside and the surrounding area. Artists used all manner of media including ink, pencil, watercolor, and marker.

More than 20 sketchers posed on the church steps to show off their sketchbooks, including one hammy photographer.

Some chose to sketch animals, such as tigers, elephants, zebras, giraffes, hornbills and kangaroos; others chose to render sketches of buildings or scenes around the zoo.

The Urban Sketchers Cincinnati group turned out in large numbers today, including new and experienced sketchers.

The Throwdown, a collection of the sketches done on site today. Media included pencil, ink, watercolor, and marker. Several sketchers chose to render the lobby, while others liked the wall display of a waveform of broadcaster Tana Weingartner's voice.
