I had just discovered the brush pen and was trying it out. I think this is my favorite sketch of Poncho ever.

I had meant to go back and finish this one (from a photo, obviously) but I really like the way it looks as is.

I chose an angle that would easily exclude the swastika markings. I like drawing planes and military vehicles, but today that insignia meant more.

As I sat there staring at this brilliant piece of deadly technology, designed and built by humanity’s worst regime, a family came by: two adults and two young kids. I overheard the dad say, “Those were the bad people. They lost. The good people won.”

It made me wonder: when did our people forget this? When did we decide that the Nazis were the example we wanted to follow? I don’t think we’re the good people any more.

I’m a fan of old school fantasy art, especially the work of Dave Trampier. I’d never compare my stuff to his, but looking at his technique inspired me to try this. Took me ages.
