“LGBTQ+ history has reshaped how historians understand American citizenship, the Cold War and the civil rights movement, among many subjects. Officials may succeed in driving LGBTQ+ history out of Texas’s public universities — but they will not erase the past. LGBTQ+ history belongs to all of us.”

"Discussions regarding the memo have too often focused on bloodless, technocratic terms like 'compliance' or 'implementation.' Behind the legal and policy concerns are real people . . . Transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals are part of our university community." Go AAUP-Texas Tech!

"Faculty members are uncertain whether discussing scientifically-accepted concepts in their disciplines, such as biological intersex conditions, historical gender systems in various cultures, or legal frameworks governing sex discrimination, could result in termination." #TXHigherEd #AcademicBluesky

Prof. Karma Chavez: “I think UT’s good enough just to compete on the regular marketplace and still win.” That’s right! UT doesn’t need to trade its independence and autonomy for vague promises of “preferential” federal grant funding! 👏🧡✊ #LonghornPride

"In that free marketplace of ideas, the people of MIT gladly compete with the very best, without preferences. Therefore, with respect, we cannot support the proposed approach to addressing the issues facing higher education.

Another Faculty Senate offers wise advice.

Pres. Davis, you’ve abolished our Faculty Council, depriving yourself of the advice of faculty who would say, Just say no to the Compact! This is a road to disaster for a great University. We need autonomy, free speech & academic freedom to stay great!
