Something crazy happened this week that I still can’t believe 🤯

QRSurge crossed 1,000 registered users in just 6 months 🚀

$0 ad spend, all organic reach

What’s been the best distribution channel for you?

I’ve been consistently working on qrsurge.com for the past 11 months and I’m finally starting to see some real traction:

1,014 registered users
6 paying customers
$128 MRR

Monetization was a struggle at first but I think it’s finally finding product-market fit!
The landing page for QRSurge is hosted for free on Cloudflare Pages. The dashboard is hosted on Fly.io. Using Neon for the DB but I plan to switch to DigitalOcean.

For a while my hosting costs were < $7 but I outgrew the Neon free tier so now it’s more like $22.
Yea they can be improved. I tried generating images using ChatGPT and NanoBanana but they came out looking awful. No coherent style and content literally going off the edges of the image.

That wasted about a day and at that point it became ship first and iterate later.
Nice landing page! One of my biggest challenges at the moment is getting feedback from my users. Even the paying ones don’t respond to my emails 😅
It’s a beautiful Saturday, the weather here is finally cooling off.

What’s everyone working on this weekend?

After 10 months of grinding I can finally say QRSurge has its first paying customer! 🚀

Here’s me staring longingly at the Stripe email #buildinpublic #indiehackers
I thought it would be easy and I could earn some side income. Turns out I was wrong on both fronts 😅
Hey #buildinpublic fam,

I need your help. Is anyone willing to test a new flow on my landing page? It should only take a few minutes.

I will return the favor for you as well!

Send me a DM me or comment below
I’m also launching a completely revamped landing page, making it much easier to generate fully custom static and dynamic QR codes for free!

Keep an eye out in the coming days 👀
I’m flabbergasted. I just found out @qrsurge.com was featured in an article by Asurion…

…completely organically!

I happened to come across it on a routine Google search. It’s crazy to see your creations taking on a life of their own.

Check out the article!👇

I admit I have a hard time letting go of unused domains
Always a nice surprise to see who signs up for your SaaS.

These past 2 days QRSurge had a major office furniture retailer and a fine dining restaurant at a worldwide hotel brand sign up to manage their QR codes.

This is just the beginning, onward! 🚀

I’m dealing with this right now! I’m redesigning my landing page and trying to improve SEO but it’s hard to know what keywords to target in a competitive space.
If you’re wondering which auth method to choose for your project you should prioritize Google login.

Since launching QRSurge 2 weeks ago I’ve had:

✅ 85 signups
✅ 80% accounts use Google login

Simplify your onboarding!

Right now just posting on Reddit. Going to start posting to directories soon but I’ve just been lazy about it
That’s a pretty slick business card! Btw if you want to create a trackable QR code that doesn’t show ads you can use qrsurge.com 😎
Nice! What did you do to improve your DR?
I finally launched my QR code management platform a couple weeks ago!

It’s getting steady traffic but my next goal is figuring out how to convert free users to paying customers.
Yea mainly for feedback on the product, but also some users don’t complete onboarding so I reach out and don’t hear back.

I do have a feedback mechanism in the app but it’s just sitting in the sidebar. I might have to make it a popup or something.
Quick question for my #buildinpublic fam, do users respond to you when you ask for feedback by email?

I’ve sent over 100 emails from my Google Workspace account (not a marketing email blast) and haven’t gotten any responses. I don’t think emails are going to spam.

What has worked for you?
One more thing - as a special launch bonus, I'm offering 10 discount codes for 50% off any yearly plan. DM me for a code!
