I wrote a long article about Rieko Kodama, her career at Sega, the evolution of her company, the games she worked on (including some canceled games and/or games for which she is not credited), the status of women and working conditions in the video game industry, etc.

For the record, of the 490 people I have in my database, 62 have died, which is about 1 in 8.

If tou're talking about Final Fantasy characters in 3D, it's probably the SIGGRAPH demo (which was often mistakenly presented as a technical demo for the N64 game):

Square producer Akitoshi Kawazu mentions that Square had received a development kit for the Super Famicom CD-ROM drive and that tests for a new Final Fantasy had been carried out with it. The workstations were NEWS.

According to the German magazine Computer Persönlich, the SC-3000 was unveiled at the CES in Chicago in June 1984. However, the machine was never officially marketed in the United States.

"Another exotic model from Sega: the SC-3000H. With a Z80 CPU, 4 MHz clock frequency, 8 KB ROM and 18 KB RAM (plus 16 KB video RAM) in the basic version, it is not particularly impressive, despite its hub keyboard. Its video game twin, the combination of the SG-1000II (a video game console) and the SK-1100 (a rubber keyboard), has similar specifications and capabilities."

"Noch ein Exote von Sega: der SC-3000H. Mit Z80-CPU, 4 MHz Takt-frequenz, 8 KByte ROM und 18 KByte RAM (plus 16 KByte Video-RAM) in der Grund-version kann er wenig über-zeugen, trotz Hub-Tastatur. Ähnliche Werte und Chan-cen besitzt sein Videospiel-Zwilling, die Kombination aus SG-1000II (eine Video-spiel-Konsole) und SK-1100 (eine Gummi-Tastatur). "

It seems that Square and Enix each had a female producer in their ranks in the 1980s (Miki Yukinoura at Square, Keiko Itoh at Enix), but that there have been none since their merger (or even before that), is that right?
vgdensetsu.bsky.social
Keiko Itoh / 伊藤慶子, one of Japan's first female producers, who was also a screenwriter. She started at Enix with Angelus (1988) and Misty Blue, then worked on Kekkon, Sotsugyō: Graduation Real and Sotsugyō M: Male Graduation.
Interviews published in Popcom - June 1988 and Login Sofcom - Autumn 1995:

A REQUEST: If you own a French CD-ROM computer game called "Pop Anim'", please let me know. I could use it for some research but haven't been able to find a circulating copy yet. (It's at the BnF but I can't get there right now.)

I updated my personal interview list - chiefly to account for deaths that I've missed.

thehistoryofhowweplay.wordpress.com/2016/09/29/f...

Out of the 142 people I've formally interviewed, at least ten have passed away since I started. If you ever need a motivation to reach out - let it be that!

I thought something seemed off about the the image posted below: it's a photo that's been edited and colorized by AI. Please don't do that.

The first 2 chapters out of a total of 15 (one per week) are already available in English and French. I will add appendices as I go along (chronology, detailed list of games, gallery, etc.).
It took me nearly 4 years of work, so I hope you'll enjoy it.
