Again, I don't think your intentions are bad here - but I think to change minds here, people would need to hear something practical about how things could actually change *in this instance* instead of the same cycle continuing where capital captures all value while eroding labour's share.

If you think there's an upside to building this technology so it can be captured by labour, I think there needs to be an actual story being told about how that can actually be accomplished. Because otherwise, people whose careers are being destroyed today are just being told to stop resenting it!
January 10, 2026 at 7:51 PM
I understand where you're coming from, but I also think it's worth thinking about the fact that the split in tone here is along the lines of people who are currently financially stable and the people whose livelihoods are *presently* being eroded by these technologies with no upside in sight.

Normally I'd say yes but this specific illustration is giving me pause if I'm being honest

I'm launching a new gaming website! Sometime after everything happened last year I convinced my former boss @midimyers.com to come on this journey with me, and I could not be more grateful. I'm so proud to make something I love, something I stand by, something I OWN. Learn more at the link below :')

Speaking of Titanium Court, I can now point out that AP Thomson just casually dropped a self-portrait via a screenshot of Titanium Court in an interview a year ago, when it was still unannounced, with no explanation at all of what it was or what it was doing there canvasrebel.com/meet-ap-thom...

You might remember my IGF blog post where I described going crazy over an "Unannounced Project by AP Thomson". Well, that's Titanium Court, and it's no longer unannounced. Looking forward to everyone else getting to try this because it's something very special. store.steampowered.com/app/2364580/...

I had the honor of meeting Yoshiro Kimura last year at the Onion Games office in Tokyo, and got to listen to him talk very earnestly about game development and Stray Children and, well, life.

Like 12 years ago my friend sent me this picture from his work and it immediately, permanently changed the name of this utensil in my head. The bytes were fully overwritten. I don’t remember the former name of this item and frankly I don’t care

NEW: A city in Virginia was debating whether to end its contract with Flock.

An unsolicited email from Flock's CEO labeling concerned citizens as "activists" who "weaken public safety and normalize lawlessness" sealed the deal to end it.

This is a game meant for a kids ride, so it's over in a few minutes with nothing to it and I sure can't emulate the ride part at home either, but I played it because it has the funny Sonic voice

They should bring this voice back imo

Canada legal nerds: I am trying to figure out what this character in Clifford Stoll's The Cuckoo's Egg is on about. It has bugged me for years and I cannot find such a case.

Also we've had computer crime laws since 1985 and this story takes place in 1986. Any thoughts?

OK I tracked down the song, and... yeah, this is more than just “using the same sample". The other track feels like an uncredited remix - same looping sample, bunch of other shared components too. It's not a 1:1 copy but it's *definitely* not an original track.
January 9, 2026 at 1:57 AM
I ended up finding it!

And yeah the other one is a lot more obscure. Not being able to post it on youtube is helping keep it obscure, haha

Actually now that I think about it if you've got DJ Food's Jazz Brakes Vol. 2 and are up with helping me out, I'm curious to find out just how similar these are.
Heh, that's interesting. A rare 90s techno track I've got was flagged as containing content from a DJ Food track, and now that I've looked it up... yeah, they sound *very* very similar. At a minimum both based on the same looping sample.
