In February, @404media.co did a piece on the overwhelming amount of AI Slop in public library vendor Hoopla Digital. They promised to clean up their platform, but just this morning I went looking and easily found a self-publishing house pushing shoddy health content by a fake author.

Yeah, I saw someone on pillowfort recently promoting their site here with a meme image that had the text “lived longer than cohost”. Feels like they have no interest in making themselves a welcoming space for people from elsewhere.

That’s Dreamwidth, which is alt-livejournal more than alt-tumblr. But yeah her behaviour, including gloating when cohost shut down, made it pretty clear that wasn’t going to be a welcoming space.

Wafrn’s pretty nice. It’s definitely got a “plane being assembled in the air” feeling, but not in a bad way. The “wafrn community” is fairly small since it talks to both the fediverse and bsky, so a lot of social connections are with the larger network, but its developing a community of its own now.

People talk about “PC-98" as if it's a 100% different platform from IBM PCs, but I find late-era software interesting for how it crosses over - like this 1996 CD that says it's compatible with PC-98, FM Towns and IBM PS/V so long as it's got Windows installed.

I appreciate all the people showing love and support to me. I’m so grateful honestly. It means a lot. The ban isn’t that big of a deal for me. I think it was wrong and the explanation was bullshit. But that’s ok and I accept. Social media comes and goes. I’m grateful for all the connections I was able to make and all the people I get to be connected with off Bluesky. More importantly, the world needs more people to give a fuck. More people to give a fuck about Palestinians, more people to give a fuck about disabled folks, more people to give a fuck about our queer and trans siblings, more people to give a fuck about Black liberation. The world, and Bluesky, is full of bootlickers who will do anything to avoid doing anything to upset the status quo. These people are cowards groveling to those in power in hopes of protection. I just hope people continue to show love and care and kindness. Mutual aid is so important. Give when you can, boost when you can. We only survive this together.
