I really want to continue using a browser like Firefox, but I'm having more and more issues with website bugs. I am afraid our decade-long friendship might be coming to an end.
I really wish sometimes I did not have 246000 different hobbies and interests and was one of the people who only had one or two hobbies. Instead of burning out on trying to fit them all in my "spare time"

with so much online "anti w00k3 rage" there is now about the new Superman movie, it's a clear sign it's probably pretty decent fun movie... 🍿
Cool video about jailbreaking rental e-bikes. I've seen this model before, I think.. "I Tried to Jailbreak a 'Pay-To-Ride' Ebike — Total Nightmare" www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJC9...

Some irony in that multiple engineers/computer scientists have confidently told me that the solution to our university’s budget crisis is to “close the humanities and social sciences.”

This is, of course, silly; all disciplines are critical and important.

Today I discovered that people have been uploading old stock photo CD-ROMs to the Internet Archive and now I'm obsessed with the mid-'90s business-core aesthetic.

I'm continually impressed how much yeoman's work the Bitsavers Collective (which is really a couple folks) is putting into scanning and providing from computer documentation realms. Here's all they've added in the last month:

Found a fun review of Floppy Disk Fever! Great to see how different people react to our 💾📕 book project.

2018 feels so long again, but 2012 feels so recent for me. It's weird how time and memory do the trick..

Super cool results from Telemagic colleague Cyanne made during their residency at UmArts ⚡️
After 3 weeks in Umeå as artist researcher in residence, i hosted an open studio and AI tinkering session yesterday where we ended up running local LLMs and sharing tools.
End of my residency at UmArts Taiga is near! In the video some of the micro AI experiments. Thanks for having me! 🙏

🔥 Cozy up to a digital fireplace with Sierra On-Line's "A Computer Christmas" (1986). 🎄💾 This vintage software's Yule Log vibe reminds us why preserving digital works matters.

People are still talking and asking about my 'My Hard-Drive Died Along with my Heart' book after 10 years. I know it's been referenced in a few student projects, and people are still asking about more floppy disk projects. Just sending a big thanks out in cyberspace. 💾 🙏 💾
I was invited to interview for the book DEATH-DESIGN-DATA about data death, the loss of files and digital memories by Cecilia Casabona and Ginevra Petrozz. I just got my copy and I am looking forward to seeing and hearing people's feedback on the book and topic.

MIT has a set of books labelled "Open Access" but it's a little clunky to find them on the MIT Press site, and so I've gone ahead and mirrored 400+ of them here:
