Shachtman's (excellent) piece on the ADL reminds me of @naomiaklein.bsky.social's writing in Doppelganger. Zionism has been used to flatten our imagination of a better world. It treats antisemitism as a natural law that can never be overcome, therefore requiring constant, violent repression.

NYMag piece:

In some ways, it was a pertect encapsulation of the ADL's new tack. The group was founded on the idea that Jewish rights and safety were inextricably linked to the rights of others.
