I am interpreting the "K.A. Applegate" name as the fusion form of Katherine Applegate and husband Michael Grant. I know this was the case for Animorphs and am *guessing* it to be the case for Remnants and Everworld. Katherine doesn't seem to get as bonkers solo.

It's wild that, as weird and dark as Animorphs could be, I would describe both of K.A. Applegate's other, short lived series from about the same time, Remnants and Everworld, as "shit that was too weird and/or dark for Animorphs"

A squirrel is standing inside and peeking over the top rim of a hollowed out pumpkin. The top of the pumpkin can be seen behind. The squirrel is wearing a slouchy black witch hat with orange stripes and holding a squirrel-sized chef knife. The knife is because the squirrel has carved the words ‘MAYBE IT WILL HAPPEN’ in the side of the pumpkin and in the ground in front the word ‘TODAY’ has been spelled with stringy orange pumpkin guts with seeds scattered all around.

But even I! Am not so out of touch to be like "at last, this French RPG has arrived to save Japanese RPGs" when that French RPG is CLEARLY lifting and refining mechanics from a who's who list of actual JRPGs from the last 25 years.
