Finished September with lifer number 90 for the year with mines of Chrysoesthia drurella (Fiery Miner) at Dawlish Warren with Kevin Rylands. Seems to be a very scarce moth in Devon, though presumably it is also under-recorded. Brings me to 968 moth species for the year so far. #teammoth

Both found today on Gypsywort at the Warren, the Eupteryx previously recorded on Water Mint, the aphid new for the Recording Area.
norwichbirder.bsky.social
I checked a clump of Gypsywort this morning and found a couple of nice hemipterans - the leafhopper Eupteryx thoulessi (www.britishbugs.org.uk/homoptera/Ci...) and some Hawthorn-Gypsywort Aphids Ovatus insitus (influentialpoints.com/Gallery/Ovat...).
A close-up picture of a pale-green leafhopper with pale patches spread across the wings. A close-up of an aphid, a rather mottled brownish colour with pale legs and bumps on the front of the head between the antennal bases.

Today's #SlavonianGrebe S of Cockwood Steps on Devon's #ExeEstuary. A difficult bird to video due to its distance and frequent diving in blustery conditions. Just my 2nd in Devon this year 😉. Thanks again to Lee C & @robmurphy.bsky.social. #DevonBirds #UKBirding @warrenbirding.bsky.social
