I'm considering a little post series extolling the virtues of easy beginner #nativeplants 🌱 for the Mid-Atlantic because in March or April, a bunch of new folks will careen into this hobby (it's like clockwork) and it might be handy to have said posts for quoting.

I'll thread them starting here.

Up to 41 #nativeplants species sown 😳🌱 (a few out of frame here)
Eight winter sowing containers, mostly plastic salad boxes held together with binder clips, sitting on the ground next to a beige house About 20 winter sowing containers, some gallon jugs and some plastic salad boxes held together with binder clips, sitting on the ground next to a beige house

The 20# weighted vest walks have commenced to prep for the Bay Bridge 10k. If you, like me, like walking but want to get a little more sub-aerobic heart rate elevation out of it, and also maybe work on your bone density and/or posture and core strength, I endorse it. 🏃

Signed up for the Bay Bridge run/walk and a bike lesson* with the encouragement of my board game night buddies 🤜🤛

*I am sorry to say I never learned to ride a bike, possibly related to my sister's multiple bike and horseback riding injuries before I was old enough to start

That, and the texture was absolutely miserable. No chew at all.

Hmm. I had the best luck last winter with clear, colorless water jugs a neighbor gave me. I wonder if my area's weather was different in a way that didn't cause the splintering?

How bad an idea is it to use green-tinted plastic olive oil jugs as winter sowing containers? 🌱

I'm thinking for anything that's supposed to be surface sown or needs full sun it's a hard no. But not sure about other situations.

This is a good thread albeit in a weird way

In honor of spooky month, share a 4 word horror story that only someone in your profession would understand

I'll go first: Six page commercial lease.

this has been, a Schenectady county native trying to remember all the electricity related stuff in the area 😛

They put in ground source heat pumps at Niskayuna High School some years ago. I wonder if they'd give a tour if asked.

Hey #GreenSky,

Are there cool clean tech/energy places in the greater Albany, NY region that do group visits? We've done NYISO and the Mechanicsville Hydro site, but looking for additional options.

That was one very bright stem in a big patch of much paler flowers. Not sure what is different about it.

I hadn't been following this bill, but just saw that Gov. Newsom vetoed AB 93, which imposed certain water use reporting requirements on data centers, as part of the business licensing process (including for annual renewals).

Some are just too bright for our dull eyes.

A spotted bee balm inflorescence with uncommonly brilliant, deep pink bracts.

This one volunteered in our black raspberry patch and was indeed growing fast. So for the sake of the berries and the front yard shade after our maples got sick and came down, new home.

This one is already way taller than me lol. But maybe an inch and a half at thickest.
