I'm considering a little post series extolling the virtues of easy beginner #nativeplants 🌱 for the Mid-Atlantic because in March or April, a bunch of new folks will careen into this hobby (it's like clockwork) and it might be handy to have said posts for quoting.

I'll thread them starting here.
Up to 41 #nativeplants species sown 😳🌱 (a few out of frame here)

Rhodora! If the sages ask thee why
This charm is wasted on the earth and sky,
Tell them, dear, that, if eyes were made for seeing,
Then beauty is its own excuse for Being;
Why thou wert there, O rival of the rose!
I never thought to ask; I never knew ...
Which lines of poetry live rent-free in your head?

I went to a memorial today and it made me realize that it's pretty likely everyone close to me will predecease me, so then I will have to administrate my own death in advance. Also the matter of not much remembering or mourning to contemplate. Where's my copy of Meditations and/or Hagakure 🫠

I have put the cute oversized rainbow stake lights along the edge of the garden path; I have wound the faux vine lights around the arbor; I have had mixed feelings about putting out lights at all because they're not good for birds

ACEEE recently worked with Alachua County, Florida to help revamp its energy efficiency program, which was at risk of losing its funding.

Now, it's becoming a countywide program lowering utility bills and increasing comfort and safety inside homes!

This animation had such a visceral effect on me as a kid. And I guess this movie was partially hand-drawn and partially digital. I wonder how the flame colors were done.

When someone claims to care about truth, facts, science, etc, and then does this, you know that they just care about "looking reasonable" which has nothing at all to do with practicing reason
"Dems must pivot to energy affordability and also embrace nuclear power" is a take I've read several times just today, and not a single time did the author pause to contemplate the dissonance.

This unreliable technology should not be used to change policies that affect the lives of millions without oversight. We will continue to hold the admin accountable in court.
