I'm considering a little post series extolling the virtues of easy beginner #nativeplants 🌱 for the Mid-Atlantic because in March or April, a bunch of new folks will careen into this hobby (it's like clockwork) and it might be handy to have said posts for quoting.

They do get along. They're in foster together at the moment, though they are not related to each other. Just coincidentally had a bad eye infection, same time, same region in MD.

Gray boy is intrepid and regal, buff boy is cautious and snuggly. Also, buff boy has a breathing issue such that he sounds a little bit like a duck.

these were the boys a month or two ago, they are longer and more cat-shaped now

I found a White Breasted Nuthatch today... and got to watch it for a good 5 minutes or more. aka... Forever in bird viewing. #birds 😂

A sky like this can be difficult to capture the way I see it. But in this case, this is almost exactly how it looked.

A dusk scene. The horizon is black. There are some wind turbines and trees along the horizon. A deep orange fades slowly into a lighter orange upward, then turns light blue into a deeper blue at the top.

Beneath and beyond out-of-focus, shiny-damp violet leaves, a woodland box turtle with very bright orange scales on its front leg. It looks like it's shutting its eyes and starting to withdraw into its shell, like maybe if it can't see me, then I can't see it either.
