Here's the schedule for #UtahHorrorDay here in the #SaltLakeCity area on 10/25/2025. It's a big deal. You should come by! It's totally free (though we hope you'll support our local vendors and authors!).

This weekend, #WhisperHousePress will be at the Barnes & Noble in Murray, #Utah for a #horror themed signing event that'll feature a bunch of cool authors and two presses. Come support local publishers and writers if you're in the #SaltLakeCity area!

Next weekend: #MarissasBooks in #Millcreek!

Thank you for the mention! So proud of our new (first ever!) anthologies.

I was picking brains about this last night at MPIBA in Denver, and I’ve come away thinking this: libraries now won’t have a distributor, and the existing distributors have no incentive to broaden their business to serve libraries since the benefits to them are so limited and the costs so great.

I listened to oral arguments today. It was interesting. To be clear: they wouldn’t be overturning bans on conversion therapy in general but on conversion talk therapy in particular. I can’t see the arguments I heard (1st amendment-grounded) holding water, though. We will see. I hope they reject em.

(This is why I don’t work in writing or editing after dark.)

God. Can you tell I wrote that after brain-function hours? Ugh.

Got to hang out with Torrey House Press tonight. They are an awesome Utah-based publisher and have contributed to a great education. I’ve gotten over the last few hours. I’m so glad that I came to this event. #MPIBA and a bunch of these bookstores seem really interested in #WhisperHousePress books!

Completed Silvia Mareno-Garcia's THE BEWITCHING—I highly recommend it to #readers interested in #witchy #folkhorror, #founddocuments #horror with #mystery and #historicalfiction as well as #supernatural elements. Very solid story, and I've been looking forward to it for a while! #bookreview #booksky

The drive from Salt Lake to Denver is one of my favorites. Headed to the #MPIBA fallcon to meet #indiebookstore owners and fellow #publishers large and small. Yay! #whisperhousepress is on the move!
Desert scene, about half blue sky with light clouds. Foreground is a low hill with some small vegetation.

Really wanted to catch this at Sundance but missed out! Glad it’s making the rounds and hope I get a chance to see it.

I highly recommend Wehunt’s book, OCTOBER FILM HAUNT. I was lucky to get a shot at reading it early, and I reviewed it at www.whisperhousepress.com if you want to read my take on its strengths (spoiler: it’s got a lot of strengths!).

I wish we had access in Utah, but our government has made it tougher and tougher to get this vaccine. Thankfully I have insurance and the time to go to a doctor to get a prescription. Really wish these barriers weren’t in place to stop us from protecting one another.

Yesterday I got my COVID booster and flu shot. Every year I’m thankful to science for access to both.

One Battle After Another: just as good the second time. I’d see it a third time if I could justify it in the family budget.

(I think about this a lot. The movie plays in my head. I try to record it just as a see it. It never works perfectly—the translation is off—but the closer I get, the better I feel about the effort and product. I’ve heard other writers describe the process this way. I know it’s not original to me.)

Great analogous use. Seriously. Do you have a site set up for this project?

I spent many an hour reading about the fearsome gavagai. WV Quine and “indeterminacy of translation” was one of my all time favorite topics to learn about. I wrote at least one B- paper about it, too. Can’t remember if that counted as “passing” but in truth the meaning of that standard wasn’t clear.
