Enforcement footage doesn’t just document events, it structures interpretation. It invites viewer interpretation without context, shifting scrutiny onto recorded people while institutions remain opaque. "Visibility Without Consent" (no paywall): jgcarpenter.com/blog.html?bl...

When visibility in enforcement encounters arrives late, selectively, or through informal recordings rather than accountable systems, it doesn’t clarify what happened, it narrows who gets to interpret it.. "Visibility Without Consent" (no paywall):

Note that the sudden rise in "nudification" is not an advance in the tech itself, it's a design choice by Musk / xAI.

LMMs trained with nude images have been able to do this for years; Grok is the first time a major company has chosen to enhance this functionality for users rather than restrict it.
The “put her in a bikini” trend began quietly at the end of last year before exploding at the start of 2026. Within days, hundreds of thousands of requests were being made to the Grok chatbot, asking it to strip the clothes from photographs of women.
‘Add blood, forced smile’: how Grok’s nudification tool went viral
The ‘put her in a bikini’ trend rapidly evolved into hundreds of thousands of requests to strip clothes from photos of women, horrifying those targeted

This @iethics.bsky.social panel conversation on autonomous weapons is up! Accountability, human oversight limits, & consequences of lethal decisions delegated to systems optimized for speed. These questions are no longer theoretical, & not confined to military contexts.

“Meet without meeting” and “be in two places at once” are not worker benefits. They’re managerial fantasies that erase absence, rest, and limits while keeping output intact.

This is a labor fantasy where workers never fully log off, never fully leave, and never quite stop meeting even when absent.

It's not just that the new ICE agents are untrained and incompetent, it's that the people drawn to this job in this environment are people who get off on cruelty. It's a position tailor made for sadists. Kind, decent people are not applying.

Your daily reminder that LLMs are software trained on large-scale human-produced data that contains historical and contemporary biases, exclusions, stereotypes, and power asymmetries.

At scale, these systems amplify patterns that already exist in that data. It's bigotry presented as knowledge.

Watching the AI labor market is revealing. The questions being asked in public about trust, legitimacy, policy, ethical, and social consequences closely resemble work many of us have been doing for years. The jobs being posted, less so.

I think the AI angle of this is obscurant. It doesn’t matter that grok is “an AI” whatever you take that to mean. Suppose X hired a team of guys to photoshop the clothes off of women and children whenever anyone asks. That’s functionally identical what happening here. It’s not complicated.
A functional country would shut Grok down permanently. Like, immediately. Right now. Last week. Whatever. Just flip the switch. Obviously.
