2-month-old brown eastern cottontail with a torn ear glows in the late summer sunshine. Agate was my fave bun born in 2023, which is saying a lot because we had many amazing buns that year. Little Agate got her ear torn when she was about 6-weeks-old so I started taking loads of photos of her to monitor her ear’s healing. She turned into a little ham for the cam and we had a lot of fun together. She had babies here last spring (2024), but then moved across the street to a farm where she could be queen because her sister Ruby became queen here. You can see many more portraits and Agate in action in the YT playlist in comments. I took ~1000 photos of her in just the 1 year she was with us! Thanks for watching our fun and agile Agate!

Eggplant, our 1st male bunny to ever overwinter here & the papa to nearly all babies born in 2024 & 2025 also just returned! I think he followed Topaz 🥰

Joy! After 5 months, sweet mama Topaz has returned!
I call her "tricky" Topaz b/c she tricks me into thinking she's someone else (by being in their homes, etc.) & did this time too. Thought she was her daughter Fennel! Til I saw her ears up close & her personality.

2+year-old brown eastern cottontail bunny up close with a few grey rocks and green moss. Mama Topaz returns! 5 months might be the record for 1 of our resident mamas to leave our yard and come back. Peanut left for 6 weeks once and Marshmallow left for 2 months, but 5 months! And she looks amazing! I really thought she was Fennel, they look very similar. But she kept running up to me, which isn't something Fennel usually does. Then I noticed she didn't have the tiny ear notches Fennel has. To confirm, I saw Fennel in another part of our yard. My heart really needed this. I'd had hope that she'd return to our yard this autumn, after mating season, to overwinter here again. But, where has she been?? I showered her with love and treats so hopefully she stays. Photo taken 10.6.2025 and is not cropped. I actually had a difficult time taking her pic b/c she kept running up to me! After seeing her nearly daily for 2 years, to not see her for 5 months was hard. We really missed her. And this was a wonderful reunion! You can see her as a baby grow up to be a loving and chill mama in playlist in comments. Thanks for reading, caring, and watching 🐰💜

The closest you'll get of a self-portrait of me (ha!) squatting down to hand-feed a brown eastern cottontail named Peanut, the inspiration and star of my YT channel. Peanut is 6-months-old here and almost full-grown. Shows how small these bunnies truly are! I just get very close to them to take their pics, etc.
Thought you might like to see that there's a real person behind these videos and the pleas for you to watch them.
