Great to see the Government moving ahead with plans to modernise licensing rules for pubs and clubs. These much-loved venues are at the heart of our communities.

This is just the start, as we work to unlock London’s nightlife and build a better city for everyone.
UK government plans to boost economy by loosening nightlife laws
In light of stagnated UK economic growth, the Labour government has announced a new plan to allow restaurants, pubs, and night clubs to stay open later. The UK

A growing body of research shows that 20mph is making our roads safer, reducing the number of people killed & seriously injured, while have little impact on journey times & no increase in pollution etc.

But still the naysayers will kick off … see predicable comments below!

Well done to all the brilliant local councillors who have lowered the speed limits their roads to 20mph - often in the face of much hostility.

There is now irrefutable evidence to show your bold decisions are saving lives.

Thank you!

Now I wish I had made a Mornington Crescent gag!

TfL has invested in over 300 new enforcement cameras at high risk locations to ensure compliance at yellow box junctions, bus lanes, banned turns etc

This vital work is helping make London's road network safer and reducing chaos & congestion across the capital.

Thanks to @marsflyerpaul.bsky.social for the reminder of how horrid Haverstock Hill used to be for cyclists.

London's Network of Cycleways is continuing to grow and get even better. 🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲

Great to see the temporary cycle lanes on Haverstock Hill being made permanent by Camden Council - this includes new kerbs to protect cyclists, raised zebras and new bus stop bypasses.

Without a constant stream of traffic, the nation’s high street came alive for one extraordinary day.

Footfall was up nearly 50% and passenger numbers at nearby Tube stations jumped by 25%. It shows the appetite for a traffic-free Oxford Street where businesses and Londoners can thrive.

These new figures prove that when people are put at the heart of Oxford Street, the area thrives and businesses benefit.

That’s why I am moving forward with the next stage of my proposals to pedestrianise Oxford Street and revitalise the area as quickly as I can. www.cityam.com/oxford-stree...
Oxford Street pedestrianisation boosts sales, survey finds
Oxford Street was closed to traffic for eight hours on Sunday 21st September in a pilot test to fully pedestrianise the high street.

This means that almost 10 million people are now breathing cleaner air, fewer children are growing up with stunted lungs and fewer people will have to suffer from asthma, dementia and heart disease, which means big savings for the NHS.

They said it would take almost 200 years for London's air quality to meet legal limits...

... we've done it in less than 9 💚

New DEFRA data shows that unlike other major UK cities, London met air quality standards for the first time in 2024.
