London has just recorded the lowest murder rate since records began.

The evidence is clear, the @mayoroflondon.bsky.social's approach to tackling violent crime is working.

Working with London's Boroughs, @TfL have:

🚌 Introduced 25km of new bus lanes
⏱️Built on the success of the 24/7 bus lane programme & extended operating hours of 3km more bus lanes
🚌Removed almost 100 parking bays from our bus lanes

And there's much more to come...

Great to see the new sections of bike lanes, new crossings and SuDS along Romford Road - making our streets safer & more attractive for people to travel in East London.

👏👏Well done @plaistovian.bsky.social & Newham Council team

The government is going to let councils outside London ban pavement parking by motorists.

www.gov.uk/government/s...

It's been banned in London since 1974, and promoted in this memorable GLC advert.

Great to see the Streatham Hill cycle lanes being built.

The A23 here has a terrible safety record. Tragically, 3 people have been killed in the area. There've been over 70 collisions in last 3 yrs.

This scheme will make it safer for everyone with new bike lanes & pedestrian crossings.

I really welcome the new National Road Safety Strategy.

With 28,000 people killed or serious injured on GB roads each year, it's astonishing there's been no new strategy since 2011.

The plan's ambitious with policies that'll help save lives in London too.

It's cold out there and many of the roads are extremely slippery - so please take care while travelling. 🥶🥶

TfL teams have been out with our cycle lane 'gritters' - named 'Chris Gritty', 'David Plowie' & 'Spready Salted' - helping keep our bike lanes ice free.

The data says it all: congestion pricing is a boon to New York City.

After just one year...
- New York's economy and public transportation are benefiting
- Traffic, congestion, and pollution are declining

With 30,000 people killed or seriously injured every year on this country's roads, I can't believe we haven't had a Road Safety Strategy since 2011.

This week the government will be publishing a new one. Well done @liliangreenwood.bsky.social & team.

Looking forward to seeing the details.

I'm very pleased to see that the new pedestrian crossing of the A2 at Blackheath Hill in Greenwich has been finished.

This has been much needed for far too long and will help people safely cross these busy roads.

Big thanks to the @tfl team.

I use SafeCycleLDN a lot - well worth looking at the new updated map.🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲
Over the last few months I've done a massive update to the Safe Cycling in London Map (now called the SafeCycleLDN Map): bit.ly/378amr0

Thank you to @joncstone, Stephen Biggins and my many other followers for your wonderful suggestions

Yet more evidence that debunks the ridiculous, but often cited, myth that cycle lanes increase air pollution!!

🥶It's chilly out this week, but no need to stop cycling.

Wrap up warm with an extra layer, thicker gloves & 2 pairs of socks. Slow down & ease off on corners. We're treating roads & bike lanes but it can still be icy.

Wild London is Sir David Attenborough's latest documentary.

It shows how our rewilding is "securing a brighter future for both animals, and us, too in our unique metropolis - the world's greenest major city." 💚💚💚

Watch it on BBC 1 on New Year's Day.

Lambeth Bridge N&S used to be one of the most dangerous junctions in London.

We're transforming it - making it safer for everyone.

I'm delighted the carriageway has now reopened to two-way traffic - with new protected cycle lanes both side (with anti-terrorism protection) 🚲

Illegal ghost number plates are a hole in the UK's security infrastructure.

They enable organised crime groups to operate undetected on our road network, let unsafe & dangerous drivers off the hook, and result in a significant loss of public funds.

London's Walking & Cycling Grants provide funding for community groups to enable people from all backgrounds to walk & cycle more.

I'm delighted TfL & London Marathon Foundation are investing £500,000 in 180 projects to be delivered in 2026.
