hello.. meet my wife... Lohse Divinity2
wonton.bsky.social
LOL just found the secret boss in Hades 2. idk what i expected but that was amazing, I was grinning the entire time
wonton.bsky.social
and I do feel like it's emblematic of the problems with earlier 2e APs, which is that they were just trying to copy cool movies waaaaaaay too hard
wonton.bsky.social
it's a cool technique! i would start (maybe even have started?) an adventure with it. but it feels so out of place here, because it's in a Book 4, AND it *literally* only lasts for one scene before the timeline catches up. So it's like we literally just switched two scenes, from 123456 to 213456

sometimes I feel like the writers of early pf2e APs watched a LOT of movies, and I mean that as both (complimentary) and (derogatory)
wonton.bsky.social
lol Edgewatch book 4 starts in medias res with a dramatic fight scene in a chapel, before flashing back to how the mission started

(and this is book 4! so all of this inherently has to use some kind of time skip from the previous book!)

You best start believing in computers, Mr. Leto. You’re in one.

also when i say "rebels" i mean like 2 NPCs that they met 2 sessions ago
wonton.bsky.social
look in context, it's not as crazy as it sounds, because part of the deal was that the rebels would escape anyway, but the PCs would get to exchange information with the cops.

which is really more like espionage or being double agents for the rebels
wonton.bsky.social
huh my players actually allied with the cops over the rebels
wonton.bsky.social
you ever write an important CRPG-style "choice" into your campaign, but because you know your players and your PCs well, you're 99% sure they will choose Option A anyway? 💀

today I mixed up "poop deck" and "forecastle" in my nautical terminology and ended up with "poop castle"
wonton.bsky.social
Yeah often same here. It's just that we have so few rolls in general because our game is tons of RP and investigation 🤔

I am fully 100% a-ok with Hero Points for offensive uses. Honestly if they could only be used for that, I'd give out like 3 per session

the problem is saving throws. because it basically means that spells like Dominate will never land their maximum effect as long as players hold a Hero Point back
wonton.bsky.social
other pf2e GMs: Hero Points are a part of the system! I make sure to hand out lots of them throughout!

me: 1 per session is already the least I can give, so what if I nerfed them further 🤔
wonton.bsky.social
I think what I designed is extremely cool but fuck, I wish I could work a little bit faster sometimes 💀

add another item to the list of "nights spent prepping a session for 7 hours for some reason"

>me, drawing nice, even, straight lines for my battlemap, when the psylocybin kicks in
wonton.bsky.social
hi, battlemap artist that did the grid for this ship, i uh-

i just-- i just wanna have a word 🫠
A simple, clean battlemap showing the interior of a small boat. There is a grid overlaid but for some reason the grid is TURBOFUCKED and extremely uneven.

I feel like if I ever visit downtown chicago, I'll immediately be like "woah it's just like the video game from my childhood but with more pixels"
wonton.bsky.social
anyone here ever play Midtown Madness?

there need to be more joke racing games where you can drive a city bus
wonton.bsky.social
it's probably just selection bias, but it's quite funny to me how many of the biggest RPG soundtracks are all made by eastern european composers

look i'm just saying, has anyone seen Borislav Slavov, Kamil Orman-Janowski, and Marcin Przybyłowicz in the same room together
wonton.bsky.social
i looked it up and basically EVERY dub has a male va for Goku. but not the original. fascinating!
wonton.bsky.social
those i get! because those are basically teenagers, and they play the kinda dumb comedy relief main character

just when I think of DBZ, i think of the English dub and its super long manly screams lmao. it's so surprising to me
wonton.bsky.social
did everyone but me already know that the JP voice actor for Goku is a woman. is that just known information
wonton.bsky.social
which, like, lactose intolerance can explain some of that, but it's also just cultural. milk is both an ingredient AND a drink, i go through at least 4L a week
