It is baffling how unbeholden to the law the people are who directly enforce it. Even if we pretend the police are necessary *essentially in their current form*, how can we pretend to a rule of law when such a large group is entirely exempt from it

I think the fact that we allowed cops to lie openly with no real consequences is part of How We Got Here. If the people with the ability to shoot others in the street are allowed to lie about it, you can't expect other officials to abide by a higher standard.

The as much as it doesn't matter to conservatives, it still matters on principle to be factually correct wherever possible. Journalistic integrity must be maintained by and for leftists so that fake news is a property only of the right and center. This is a level never to be stooped to

He has also transformed Immigration and Customs Enforcement into a kind of secret police that targets, with especially sadistic brutality, journalists, protesters, and others exercising their First Amendment rights. Trump’s multifaceted attack on the Constitution creates a feedback loop of lawlessness: He first erodes the structural limits on his authority, then exploits his newly unchecked power to trample the people’s freedom to dissent.

I tend to end up making more large single purchases than as many small little purchases. I don't eat out as often as friends, and didn't go out much at all until after I moved up here and got the best job I've had. Unemployment made me want to enjoy having income a little more, at least for now
