In 2004, Parisian police were conducting a training exercise in the french catacombs and found, after moving past a desk and a tape playing audio of snarling dogs, a fully functional movie theater and bar. When they returned 3 days later, the equipment was gone, with a note: “Do not try to find us.”
Members of the force's sports squad, responsible
- among other tasks - for policing the 170 miles of tunnels, caves, galleries and catacombs that underlie large parts of Paris, stumbled on the complex while on a training exercise beneath the Palais de Chaillot, across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower.
After entering the network through a drain next to the Trocadero, the officers came across a tarpaulin marked: Building site, No access.
Behind that, a tunnel held a desk and a closed-circuit TV camera set to automatically record images of anyone passing. The mechanism also triggered a tape of dogs barking, "clearly designed to frighten people off," the spokesman said.
Further along, the tunnel opened into a vast 400 sq metre cave some 18m underground, "like an underground amphitheatre, with terraces cut into the rock and chairs". There the police found a full-sized cinema screen, projection equipment, and tapes of a wide variety of films, including 1950s film noir classics and more recent thrillers. None of the films were banned or even offensive, the spokesman said.
A smaller cave next door had been turned into an informal restaurant and bar. "There were bottles of whisky and other spirits behind a bar, tables and chairs, a pressure-cooker for making couscous," the spokesman said.
"The whole thing ran off a professionally installed electricity system and there were at least three phone lines down there."
Three days later, when the police returned accompanied by experts from the French electricity board to see where the power was coming from, the phone and electricity lines had been cut and a note was lying in the middle of the floor: "Do not," it said, "try to find us."

It’s a good thing BlueSky added a feature to add comments when someone is added to a blocklist, so it can be verified that the claim is correct.

Oh wait.

Yeah, when he goes after a woman he’s always way more nastier than when he goes after a man. Usually in the case of a man he can’t muster much more effort than dismissing them with one word (“beard” is a favorite), when it’s a woman he puts in effort and energy.

Hey look it’s Grahams favorite insult.

Exactly. She just hates Palestinians slightly less than Jewish people.

This is absolutely demonic. Of all the vile shit Bondi spouted, this might be the most ghoulish. Just pure, unadulterated, evil. Zero humanity left in that monster.

Bondi: "We've been living through a horrific cycle of political violence in this country ... night after night antifa wrecks havoc on the streets of our cities. In Minnesota, a gunman murdered a state lawmaker and her husband."

Grifting these suckers for all they’re worth is a moral imperative.

At least we no longer have to hear about freedom being in Americans' DNA or whatever. Turns out we love to eat shit and bow to some bloated halfwit like any other people throughout history

It couldn’t be said enough that when these guys say “make America healthy again”, they don’t mean improving the health of all Americans, they mean killing off the “weakest” ones. They’re eugenicists.

She has restricted replies to follows/followers, which seems to be her SOP. Let’s see if she corrects herself later.

Ok, I see she generally does this with her posts. It could be that she accidentally posted this with no restricted comments, and “fixed” it later, and didn’t pay attention to replies. But that’s giving her a lot of benefit of the doubt. Let’s see what she will do.

Comments are restricted to people who follow or are followed by her. As I understand it, comments were previously wide open.

It cannot be overstated just how much of an abject idiot Musk is. His attempts at sounding smart are so transparent to anyone who’s not a dumbass, it really says something about tech journalism and Silicon Valley that they let him create this genius reputation for himself.

@jennbudd.bsky.social spreading a clear LLM generated video (the reporter has 3 arms) is bad, but could be a honest mistake. Leaving it up and locking replies after multiple people have pointed it out seems like a more deliberate act.

So many people didn’t see it. (And quite frankly, i don’t know if i would have.)

We’re so, so fucked.

it’s said all the time but I think we should continue to hammer home how insane it is that we got dead-eyed bros trying to sell us robots that will free us from the supposedly cruel burden of “creative careers” instead of the actual cruel burden of “doing menial household chores”
