The Leech

A loser offering me a ride home
On his motorcycle
After a long shitty day.
“I’ll just take you where you’re headed.”

Honestly? It felt cool and it was fun,
My heart bouncing like a cymbal.

Til I realized I’d held on too long.
And gave up too much.
And I had other things
I was supposed to be doing.

What can I say?
Rage has a certain charm.

Amber jewels adorn me.
I always admired how they shone
On your dresser
Back when I sat on the floor

And you looked in the mirror
To brush mascara on your thick lashes.

“You have beautiful eyes.”
People now tell me.
“Thanks.”
“I got them from my mom.”

When I finally met him
no time had passed
and his eyes remembered
too.

When you see a bridge in a dream
think twice before you cross

I don't usually do polical here, but this one, to support the need for Lesbian spaces I absolutely support.
My mother lived her whole life afraid "someone" would find out and my son is seeing good old-fashioned homophobia on the rise again.
