as frustrated as i've been with the editing process on this one, it speaks volumes that rewatching some of these scenes and listening to the music again effortlessly stirred up those same powerful emotions i felt while playing boku no natsuyasumi 2.

i'm not saying this is always the correct reflex but whenever i see people rant about content in games ("should have had more weapons, enemies, visual variety, etc.") my neurons instantly shut off

feels like a shortcut in lieu of real analysis

it's frustrating cuz i don't know how to explain why *character looks into camera*: "i'm angry. but actually there is a reason i'm angry. i'm a layered character now." is bad to somebody who doesn't intuitively feel it. i'm not saying f's story is completely meritless but i'm shocked at the glaze

in the final stretch of editing our boku beach & i know i'm not supposed to think this but i can't help but compare it to the other story-driven game i played recently (silent hill f) & be startled at the astronomical gulf in quality. the difference between actual storytelling & freaking VN writing

as happy as i am to stick to my guns and signal-boost BDS, it’s starting to genuinely depress me that there’s a new platinum game out and i’m not playing or talking about it

the silver lining here being that it’s nice to know i still have it in me to genuinely yearn for those types of experiences

very, very charitably, i will assume that the people who refused to cover it because of BDS are difficult to count because you can't easily draw conclusions from lack of evidence and those who actually wrote a review don't want a lightning rod for life-altering harassment, but this is disappointing

the google search results for 'ninja gaiden 4 review "bds"', of which there is one (1) review and the twitter version of the post i'm QRTing
