This is 100% false. Most artists (literally every one I have discussed this with) would rather you pirate our music than listen to it on Spotify et al. Why? Because a) a lot of us just want to be heard, profit notwithstanding & even more b) because if WE aren't gonna make money, no tech bro should!
yes, I know Spotify is a horrible company that uses its money to make bombs and kill people with said bombs, and Spotify's CEO and shareholders should die, but there is literally no better alternative that doesnt send me into bankruptcy
