art circa 2015 / they are friendlier and more forgiving than most forest spirits, but that is still what they are. don't push your luck.

a human hiker going through a forest finishes a snack and throws the wrapper over his shoulder while close to a large tree with a hollow. keen eyes will see the hole exists on the torso of a humanoid figure with bark like skin disguising itself by standing perfectly still against the tree.

the wooden being animates, swinging a branch like arch down and across the backside of the human's head with aloud smack

the human has been knocked facedown in the mud. he starts to get up, but freezes when he hears a voice addressing him coldly

the forest spirit has stepped away from its camouflaged position to reveal itself. the hole in its wooden torso is pitch dark, as is the hollow carved out where its face would be. from this hollow, the spirit's voice says "Don't do that"
