A new poll has just revealed that 2/3 surveyed Vancouver residents say that the city needs a mayor like New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Overall, 67% of Vancouverites aged 18-34 believed this.

B.C. is adding a $20 non-resident surcharge for camping. 🏕️

Starting May 15, 2026, non-B.C. residents pay a $20 flat fee for frontcountry camping, backcountry trips, cabin rentals, and mooring buoys and docks, based on the address on your reservation or at arrival. It’s not a day-use entry fee.

A popular Steveston fried chicken spot is closing Feb. 4, 2026. After 8 years, the owners say the lease is up. They told 604 Now they may reopen in a new location, so this could be a move rather than the end.

SeaWheeze is returning for the first time since 2019, with the Sunset Festival landing at Brockton Fields in Stanley Park on Aug. 8, 2026. Half marathon spots are via random draw until Feb. 6, 2026, and festival-only tickets drop Feb. 12. Prices are $325 CAD (half marathon) and $125 CAD (festival).

The Hub says Canada ranks 4th among 34 OECD countries for combined household, corporate, and government debt at 377% of GDP, which is above the U.S. on that measure.
