it is finally fixed. my mobile data bill is saved. someone split the cable and then messed up which part of the split went where, i guess, per the tech.

basically it comes down to having to pay someone with the expertise in timing and formatting captions which has a lot more rules and nuance than you might think! also the VO recorded might not match 1:1 with the script.

i didn't see they were using youtube's autogenerated captions (harder to tell on mobile, on desktop it pops up a thing for me right away that says they are autogenerated when the video starts). that's even worse.

there was also a lot of misspellings of like. the fake words made up for homestuck which... i guess, but if you're gonna get your show captioned before release at least send along a guide for those spellings. i used to be a TTY relay operator and am HoH myself so the censored captions drive me mad.

played dune: awakening pretty much all day for the free weekend. all the articles i've seen about it made me expect it to not be great but it has far exceeded my expectations so far, i'm kind of crazy about it.
