The future of design is about soul.

There are more designers than ever, yet fewer are pushing beyond established design libraries. And that’s okay. Almost anyone with a bit of training can now design a flow and even bring it to a working v1 (or should I say v0).

What are the most exciting/useful dev things you’ve discovered in 2024?

Could be devtools, libraries, new language features, educational resources, whatever 😄

This post got me thinking about how modern design tools have reshaped how many designers use grids.

We're endlessly lost in external stimuli: phones, computers, other people. They keep us distracted from our thoughts, alienating us from ourselves. Writing forces you to hear your thoughts. It is a confrontation with yourself. This is its greatest value, and its greatest pain.

The 2024 S&D year in review is here!

What a whacky year am I rite? I think its important to do these recaps & look back at everything because honestly a year is a long time & its so easy to forget the endless things you created and the progress you've made.

Introducing v0 templates:

• Next.js + shadcn/ui
• Forms
• Charts
• AI Chatbot
• Ecommerce
• Docs site

Templates let you build on well-designed, pre-configured starting points.

What else should we add?

Make design opinionated again.

- Dare to have a distinct point of view
- Embrace thoughtful and intentional craft
- Reject the generic
- Stand behind your vision

Create moments, not just interfaces.

Being skilled at visual design is a superpower in a world filled with generic templates, pre-built systems, and AI-generated designs.

Tools have lowered the barrier — anyone can create something. But when everyone uses the same tools, vision and craft are what truly set you apart.
