Internet elder. Quite predictably into tech, sci-fi, coffee and whiskey. But also into bikes, kayaks, and hiking boots and the places you can go with them.

Since I do user testing I'm usually the last one to touch tickets before they're approved to ship. The canoe and the water were the sprint, the wave was all the tickets hitting me at the very end, and the skull and crossbones is where I died.
My youngest kid brought this back from their school "store" the other day. I can't say that I had "mammary bat" on my bingo card for Spooky Season fidgets '25 but here we are. 😂 #fidgets #pop-its #fidgettoys #questionabledesign
Unintended marketing side-effect: I shall henceforth be calling the men's tour "sans-Zwift" so Zwift will be getting free mentions when I talk about the tour regardless of the edition.
Tour de France hangover week. On the upside: It's now safe to be back on social media and the newsfeeds as there are no more spoilers! That was an exciting month of full-gas racing every single day. Chapeau to the organizers and racers! #bikesky #tourdefrance @gozwift.bsky.social #gozwift
@shadewhawk.bsky.social : Right? I love having just a single cable reach up onto my desk to my laptop.
If you're on #bikesky and like #worldtour racing here are 3 reasons to follow Lantern Rouge: (1) His insightful summaries always catch things that the Big Networks miss and have compelling, easy to follow narratives (2) Great women's coverage (3) Thumbnails like this www.youtube.com/@LanterneRou...
This is ironic because the new OS theme is "liquid glass" which I presume is a fingerprint magnet. 😂
I don't give any conscious brain power to the cursor icon until I do, and then I find it so funny that it looks like Mickey Mouse giving the "white glove" treatment to your computer so you don't get any fingerprints on your monitor.

Anyway, Apple is killing that whimsy in macOS 26 this year.
Just because I was curious: You have to BYO hardware (rent or own) and "stake" $46,000 worth of their AVAX tokens and pay a monthly fee to be a validator node to stake a claim in an ever-more-diluted share of profits from fees.

And obviously you're "paid" in monopoly money I mean tokens.
My county being added to the #blockchain. How many people are behind ava1lanche's 1,369 total staking validators? 🤔 If only a few rich investors then this isn't much more than a different, expensive database. You have to pay $$$ to join the network as a node.

New Jersey county to tokenize $240B property deeds
Baloncy, a land record management firm that uses blockchain tech, signed a five-year deal with New Jersey’s Bergen County to tokenize 370,000 property deeds on Avalanche.

The blending of idioms or cliches is called a malaphor. My personal favorite is "We'll burn that bridge when we get to it"
Anesthetize: [To] administer an anesthetic to (a person or animal), especially so as to induce a loss of consciousness.

Ennui: A feeling of listlessness and dissatisfaction arising from a lack of occupation or excitement.
Sometimes a song jolts me to attention due to a really creative word. Two recent favorites:

• Anesthetize - "Games" by The Birthday Massacre

• Ennui - "I Can't Remember The Dream" by They Might Be Giants

I feel like @merriam-webster.com would have some fire favs.
P.S. You got my click just on principle.
For years I have kept a physical sketchbook at my desk and use it like external RAM, jotting down fleeting thoughts and puzzling out problems. Great to see some studies confirming the cognitive benefits and I'll add that it's also good to shift focus away from screens regularly as well!
Writing things down may take longer than typing, but there are some significant benefits, research shows—primary among them a lowered risk of cognitive decline. Here's what we've learned.
Why Writing by Hand Is Better for Your Brain
Don't throw out your keyboards, but adding some writing by hand into our daily routines can increase insight, aid recall, and may protect against cognitive decline.

I think you might be in peril.
Since I've been touring Instagram replacements recently I gave Flickr another look. It still lacks the "flow" and "life" of Insta, but I do appreciate some of the groups, such as "Stick Figures in Peril". 😂

Does the mister come with it or is that extra?
As I was reflecting on more cycling communicators like Phil Gaimon, my friends who ride, and myself, I realized that for better or worse, a common trait amongst cyclists is that we look at the world through cynical, stone-cold sober eyes and wield the deepest of sarcasm in our humor. 😂
Are you by any chance related to BikeSnobNYC? I'm getting very similar vibes (which are just fine vibes in my book).
I'll go ahead and join the choir of folks saying the analysts are smoking crack. As a PS5 and Switch owner the Switch is fine and has an enormous game library. If there is a compelling game that requires the Switch 2 it can wait until the 2025 holiday season.
5 min PhotoChop: Sometimes you know where you're going and don't need navigation but still would like a map up for alerts, street names, speed limits and a compass. I'd love to see #Apple create a quiet "just drive" mode for maps that looks something like this. #appdesign #ux #uxdesign #applemaps
#Tesla single-handedly dragged the auto industry into the electric age so it is a shame that its figurehead is no longer fit to lead it. If I owned a Tesla I thought I might consider flipping the logo upside-down to show distress but then I saw the correct upbadge: www.reddit.com/r/TeslaLoung...

A while back I had a chance to design a few screens for one of my favorite indoor bike platforms Grand Theft Auto V. GTA???, you ask. Yes!

You can plug your bike into your computer and get abused indoors just like outdoors #ux #ui #uxdesign #gamedesign #bikesky
