New followers keep coming in bunches (which is awesome), but this feels like a good time to mention I write a free baseball newsletter a few times a week.

Aside from Goose Gossage, Larry Doby, and Andruw Jones, are there any other HOFers who played in the NPB/KBO during or at the end of their MLB careers? I'm not counting Ichiro, who started his career in Japan.

Mets rotation options (pre-trade):
Nolan McLean
Clay Holmes
David Peterson
Sean Manaea
Kodai Senga
Christian Scott
Brandon Sproat
Jonah Tong

I'm not sure I saw this as "in dire need of rotation help."

Now you can swap in Freddy Peralta and Tobias Myers for Sproat.

I get the whole “the Yanks needed to do this” argument, but Cashman is going to regret giving Bellinger this contract (unless he’s fantastic for two years and opts out; AND whatever they trade Dominguez or Jones for pans out).

The last player born before me ends his career on my birthday. I asked for the opposite!!

Level 44 begins.

Started it by oversleeping and then I can’t find my usual Scott Pilgrim GIF, so, you know, we’re right on track.

I don't have an official vote for the MLB Hall of Fame. Still, I have some thoughts on who I would vote for if I were to.

Mets have infielders to trade. Braves need a shortstop. You know you want to see Luisangel and Ronald in the same lineup.
January 18, 2026 at 9:14 PM
There is more to this CIN/TB/LAA trade, right? Also, wouldn't Lux have made more sense for the Angels than Lowe?
January 16, 2026 at 4:07 AM
Umm, if Kyle Tucker is worth $60M a year then I don't see how anyone can argue Tarik Skubal shouldn't get $32M.
January 16, 2026 at 3:14 AM
Tucker to Toronto.
The Mets step in and steal Bellinger.
Yanks respond by adding Bichette, then trade McMahon to the Angels.
Framber to Baltimore.
Someone (finally) signs Rich Hill to keep his career alive.

Chaos? Let's do it.

Got an idea stuck in my head today. 1600 words later and Part 1 (of 3; the smallest of the trio) is done.

Someone sign Rich Hill, please.

Today's TBNL digs into six prominent international free agents (and several other players returning stateside) who ultimately signed contracts for less than the experts projected.
TBNL: Prominent international free agents each fail to meet contract projections
International free agency fails to live up to contract projections. Six key NPB and KBO targets, plus several more with prior MLB experience, all fall short of expectations.

One of my goals this year is to be better at promoting myself. That starts with accepting where I am in my career. I wrote a bit about imposter syndrome and where I go from here.

Going away for a few days. Leaving the laptop at home seemed like a good idea a few hours ago, but I’m already kicking myself.

What does it mean when you spend 1600+ words trying to work through something like writer's block (but not), only to end up even more puzzled than when you began???
