He has been influenced in his artistic endeavors by the work of Richard Diebenkorn, Mark Tobey, Franz Kline, and Ben Nicholson. Larry’s work has been shown in two exhibits at the New Mexico Art League and was selected for a recent two-month, one-man exhibit at a downtown gallery in Albuquerque.

He authored eight textbooks for clarinetists that are still in wide use throughout the country and have been translated into Italian and Spanish. His four educational CDs, exploring great clarinet virtuosos of the past, are considered “must-hear” for all aspiring players. Continued ...

Larry Guy enjoyed a 45-year career as a clarinetist in New York City, where he played with most of the city's orchestras, ballets, operas, and modern dance companies, numerous Broadway shows. He taught clarinet and chamber music at Juilliard, Manhattan School of Music, Vassar College, and NYU.

cont'd: Benita has experimented with many different forms of art over the years, always eager to try new materials, techniques, and approaches. Benita does representational art in addition to abstract. Now, he works in acrylic, watercolor, gouache, collage, small-scale sculpture, and fiber arts.

Benita loves the ambiguity of abstract art. Because her art does not attempt to represent actual reality, the viewer must bring their own perspectives to the art. Are those leaves, seaweed, locks of hair, or strips of fabric blowing in the breeze? Is it meant to evoke joy, sorrow, or curiosity?

Over the years, Marca attended the Academy of Art in San Francisco, and 3 other schools. She picked up painting, sculpture, landscape and interior design, ceramics, forestry, and photography. For 37 years, Marca ran her own nursery growing Japanese Maples and commercial landscape design jobs.
