Me too! I came home with so many great photos to paint. Can’t wait to go back!
Thank you! We all need things to lighten our hearts these days!
Yes. I paint watercolors from my own photo references. Thank you.

The Narrows - Zion Nat’l Park. 10x14” watercolor on paper, reference from a recent vacation. Trying to pull myself out of a 3 month slump, it was a bit of a slog but at least I finished it! #Art #watercolor #landscape #painting #Zion
I have been in a funk, and haven’t been able to finish a painting worth sharing in weeks. This isn’t my best…but it’s finished!! And that feels like a good step. 10x14” watercolor. My own reference pic from a trip to Ruby Beach, WA. #ArtYear, #BlueSkyMonday, #JuneSea #Art #Watercolor #painting
Charleston IL - very red, small town, downstate, had over 500 people show up. (Previous protests only had around 150)
Coles County IL. Mary Miller’s district. 500+ out in Charleston.
Still don’t know how!
Spring at D-H Nature Center. Another calm landscape to keep us from doomscrolling. 14x20” watercolor on paper. #art #watercolors #painting #landscape #artsky

Spring at Warbler Ridge Pond. 14x20” watercolor on paper. I’ve been taking more “nature walks” to escape the news that just keeps getting worse. Hopefully you can take a breath and feel the spring sunshine and hear the birds with this one. #art #artsky #artyear #watercolor #landscape #painting
Thank you for the repost!
I scrape the paint on in blobs/streaks then use a wet brush or mister to help it run, then use the knife to scratch and spread it in directions I want. I did this in the dark strip behind the background trees, and in the reddish clumps in the foreground.
I use a little bit of everything! I masked off the foreground tree and many of the blades of grass. I don’t use a lot of wet into wet, I’m more likely to lay the paint then pull it into an area with a wet brush. I’ve been playing with applying paint straight from the tube with a palette knife.
