This has been a really screwed up week. On Monday, 38 of my colleagues in University Advancement lost their jobs immediately. No notice. I feel for each one of them, but I can't help but feel a profound sense of uncertainty, wondering if more layoffs are coming & fearing for my own job security.

Back at work after a much needed staycation/vacation. Day hasn't
started out great, as I came this close to being hit by a distracted driver making their turn too fast into the parking lot at my work as I was walking across to get to the entrance. Day has to get better from here, right?

I'm turning 54 next Saturday. While I'm looking forward to another trip around the sun, I don't want to say goodbye to 53 just yet. I don't know why. It hasn't been a year of everything happening to me all at once like last year. It's been calm and peaceful.
