yeaaah I don't think I can justify going this year. It's a great way to network and there are good resources there, but honestly you can just hang out in front to meet up with people and get mostly the same experience, minus panels. The price keeps going up, and the job numbers keep going down.

Applying for a job on LinkedIn and then seeing the 600 other unemployed people in my industry all comment that they applied sure is a feeling. Not in a "oh no, competition" kind of way, but more so just a "yep... we're all in the same spot, huh" way.

I'm not sure if the online application process is working anymore. Maybe I'm missing something here, but if every actual opportunity comes from word of mouth, what's the point of going through these long drawn out applications? This has been my experience for both animation and non-industry jobs.

Over the past 5 months of unemployment, I've sent out over a hundred job applications (maybe more) and have only gotten a single interview out of them.

Any other interview or opportunity I've had in the past couple months, and even throughout my career, has come from a friend or colleague.
