- Greatest Hits down
- LBC doing well
- 28% of the population listen to podcasts

Wasn't this always going to happen?

Music rights owners Universal is part of NBC Universal, who are also the broadcast rights holders to the Olympics in the US. Also, Minions 3 is out this summer, so this all becomes free publicity.

I love #shrinking, but I wish they would lay off the f1.0 lens. There's "shallow depth of field," and then there's "everything else in the scene is a complete blur"

Netflix launches a reality singing contest show with live voting as an element. Just maybe don't expect many Europeans to participate...

Global really is leaning into podcasts heavily. Following their acquisition of The Fellas Studios last year, and the launch of Global Studios, they've followed this up with a majority stake in The Overlap:

It's Christmas Eve, and as usual, I've put together my picks of the festive fare from the double issue of The Radio Times.

Astonishing story of a DAB radio service having its IP transmission stream hijacked by its own streaming vendor to broadcast obscenities instead of the radio output for *30* mins!

Seemingly, because of a contract dispute between the vendor & another mux provider!

Very sad to hear that Brian Hayes has died. I grew up listening to him on LBC. RIP.

Genuinely don't understand Netflix's interface choices. I open it up today, and the show they're giving top billing on my account is an 10 year old BBC crime show that got cancelled after one series called Cuffs.

I'm pretty sure that's not the biggest show they have on right now...

When is too much?

By my count Deadline has published at least *18* stories about Stranger Things in the past week, with 10 of them in the last 24 hours.

Ironically, I couldn't even check Down Detector to see if Cloudflare was down, because it uses Cloudflare! (I think it is)

Mutes *ALL* notifications from a major sports app because I couldn't care less about UFC and can see no other way to stop the deluge of spam notifications.

New #RAJAR is out, and I've been number crunching:

- 50m/86% of UK listen to the radio weekly
- Gap widens between Commercial Radio and the BBC
- Overall falls for speech radio
- Global extends lead over Bauer
- 28.3% of the population listen to podcasts each week

An email subject header from Netflix:

"Adam, we've just added a documentary series you might like"

Ooh. A science doc perhaps? Or natural history? Maybe a hard hitting doc on the misuse of technology or the dangers of social media?

"Victoria Beckham"

Hard pass.

Someone incredibly famous dies, and the live blog kicks into play at lots of media outlets.

They need to fill it quickly with tributes. But it takes a while before those the person worked closely with or was peers with put out a statement or a quote.

Always fun to read a press release with a single quote attributed to three separate people.

(I mean, we all *know* a PR person wrote all the lines for everyone, but still...)

If Piers Morgan's YouTube show "Uncensored" is going to channel 5 here in the UK, where it will have to adhere to Ofcom guidelines, does that in fact mean that it will be "Censored"?
