Arts and culture is a weird sector. There's a layer of people mainly working in small and regional places, pretty normal. Then there's this secret extra layer with a lot of crossover with the art world, where you actually get paid but can't get into without luck or connections.

i feel like everyone who pronounces 'issue' as 'iss-yew' rather than 'ish-oo' makes a really conscious effort to do that, like they have to catch themselves just before they say it the second way
