I don’t follow Batman monthly, but I picked up #1 by Fraction & @jorgejimenezart.bsky.social (and the @jscottcampbell.bsky.social cover!) and boy was that satisfying — many shades of Batman in one book. You might even say “Vast Colors in the Dark”. Reminded me of the 90s animated series.

I read my copy of @collisionforce.bsky.social #1 by Jarrod Burris, @joekazmer.bsky.social, Chris Johnson, and team, and it was the hard-R, macho, tongue-slightly-in-cheek action bloodbath I expected from the Kickstarter. It reminded me of the fourth Rambo in the best possible way. I’m in for #2.

I must add that I wrote a 6-page follow-up story (drawn by @drawmanley.bsky.social) in which Willie Lumpkin (who’d been dating May!) visits her grave and runs into my grandmother, who’d recently lost my grandfather irl. Yes, I introduced this into Marvel canon! Spider-Man Holiday Special 1995! 🥲 3/3

I will say, the greatest tragedy of this period is the retcon/undercutting of Amazing Spider-Man #400 by @jmdematteis.bsky.social, Mark Bagley, and Larry Mahlstedt: truly one of the best Spidey stories ever told as Aunt May passes away after telling Peter she knew his secret all along. 2/3

I just binge-read from the Clone Saga finale in 1996 to the end of the first vol. of Amazing Spider-Man with #441. It’s a wild period! There are highlights (Steve Skroce), retcons galore (miscarriage, deaths, resurrections) and John Byrne to help wrap-up before his re-launch. 1/3
