This is fascinating. Interesting that the heraldry from the attacking cavalry was transferred over to the defenders. That's sensible purely looking at the image but would never be done with an understanding of the content.

Not to quibble, but we didn't need a movie to make Jim Lovell immortal

www.nytimes.com/2025/08/08/s...
Headline reading, 'He led the three-man crew that survived a near catastrophic explosion in space in 1970, and was later immortalized by Tom Hanks in the movie “Apollo 13.”'

Long story short, the observed effect was spurious. It's an interesting story, though, in how expecting to see an effect can corrupt a set of observations by a serious scientist.

Benveniste did some experiments that attributed the effects of homeopathy to a persistent change in the structure of water. Since the results were both remarkable and published in a reputable journal, Nature, they drew a lot of attention.

That's not my area but years ago I came across is an interesting story related to scientific investigations of homeopathy. I came across the work of Jacques Benveniste in the context of my graduate work on the structure of liquids.

Rest in peace, Bill Moyers. As a press secretary, he was of course political, but also serious, honest, and thoughtful. Happy to have met you, even if only at a book signing

So they're really talking about the energy of the particles. Calling a temperature is a little confusing, but that's a unit that people understand. Hope that's helpful
