But the milk chocolate orange biscuits are SO GOOD! Always a victory to bring those home.

This is what an afternoon nap is for!

This is Crow’s third Malloy after Ghost Quartet and Great Comet, and all have been hits with Toronto audiences. What’s next? Three Houses seems like the likeliest choice but I’d love to see them do Moby Dick. 🐋

The production of Octet at Crow’s Theatre (another co-pro with the Musical Stage Company) is *stunning*. (That video floor? Next level!) The cast is flawless and working hard to make 95 minutes of a cappella singing and dancing about internet addiction look easy.

Very jealous! Kyle was so good in The Inheritance!

Finally, this afternoon we caught Shifting Ground Collective’s Ride the Cyclone, a delightfully weird musical about choir kids in the afterlife after a roller coaster accident. Great fun and this young company continues to impress with the quality of work they produce.

Toronto is lucky to have a queer theatre and Buddies in Bad Times was *packed* on Saturday night for Makram Ayache’s The Green Line. A very poetic piece about intertwining queer love stories in Beirut.

King Gilgamesh and the Man of the Wild is a unique play that tells the story of two men from different countries becoming friends in modern day Toronto and telling the story of Gilgamesh at the same time. All with fantastic live Arabic jazz music. Loved it.
Program cover featuring two men singing and a woman playing a violin.

With so much theatre opening and closing in the next couple of weeks we needed a three-show weekend to squeeze them all in. You’d think we were on vacation!

I like Julie Zhou’s “The Making of a Manager” for first timers.

Walked by Alan Ritchson filming Reacher on the walk home from work tonight. Just another day in Toronto! Can confirm Alan is a Very Big Man.

Sending the biggest thanks and hugs to @meakoopa.bsky.social and the talented team behind Marvel’s Avengers Academy. They put so much love and heart into this series and brought something wonderful, unique, and necessary to the world every week for sixty issues. Time to begin my re-read! ✨

The Welkin is GREAT!!!! We’re looking forward to seeing King Gilgamesh next week after loving it the last time it was here.

Kudos to director Weyni Mengesha for creating such a visually gorgeous and fiercely intelligent production. What a way to wrap up her AD tenure at Soulpepper.

Lucy Kirkwood’s The Welkin (Soulpepper/Crows/The Howland Company) blows open the doors to the Toronto theatre season. Featuring a huge cast of mostly women, this show is everything: smart, funny, challenging, and oh god the last 20 minutes are intense! Mayko Nguyen & Bahia Watson are next level.
