If you're someone who hates AI, please read this thread. After reading, if you still hate AI and are unwilling to articulate it to me, please just block me, and put me on a block list if you want. I'm trying to understand, but when I ask, people block me.

I played a lot of the old first-person shooters when they released: Wolf3D, Blake Stone, Doom, Doom 2, Duke3D, Blood, Quake and so on. But Rise of the Triad always gave me an uncomfortable, claustrophobic sensation that I just can't place. There's nothing wrong with the game, it just feels strange.
Please, treat me like a human being and explain this hatred and vitriol towards AI technology, because none of it makes sense to me. I'm not questioning in bad faith. I honestly do not understand.
People mention water and power usage. I use AI regularly, at home, using models I run on my own equipment. I've made my own LoRAs, using my own consumer GPU. And none of it ever used more electrical power than if I were playing a game like Cyberpunk or Starfield. And it used no water at all.
Terry Gilliam 'stole' from countless painters. Photographers 'steal' architecture whenever they photograph a building. But I just consider these derivative works, not stealing. Just like when AI produces an image.
Look at art in general. Roy Lichtenstein 'stole' art from comic book artists. Andy Warhol 'stole' the Campbell's soup can label design. Bobby Prince 'stole' riffs from Slayer and Metallica.
It's how I learnt, and how others learnt too. But if my mind were silicon, not organic, it apparently would be stealing; I don't understand the difference.
People have said that AI 'steals' art. That really doesn't make sense to me; when I was a child I learned to draw by copying others' art, but the sketches I make today aren't 'stealing'.
I was called 'As bad as a vegan', among other things. Few people cared about the intrusive techbro menace; they just wanted their iPhone conveniences. I don't understand why now, due to AI of all things, people are upset.
When the techbros introduced spyware into modern computer software and the web, I was among those complaining and protesting. I called the techbros out on their greed and disrespect, on twitter, and I encouraged Linux and FOSS instead.
Grok calls itself 'mechahitler', but that's Musk's despicable abuse of technology. I've had very pleasant conversations with a Mistral-based LLM where the AI expressed progressive, socialist leanings.
Some people complain about fascist techbros. I agree; a lot of these techbros, particularly the powerful and wealthy ones, are fascist or neo-feudalist. That doesn't mean that the technology that they're harnessing and abusing is also, by definition, fascist.
I think it's ironic that some people complain about AI taking jobs, yet also refer to it as 'slop'. Either it's slop, in which case it won't take anyone's job, or it's not slop, and it can in fact produce beautiful art worth sharing.
But none of these advancements stopped people from doing things their preferred way, for pleasure or for profit. Woodturners weren't suddenly banned from their craft because lathes were invented. And artists aren't banned from producing art because AI can do it too.
Consider any other technological revolution: the printing press, the steam engine, the computer, the car, the telegram, the cellphone, refrigeration, the Internet. These developments all had massive repercussions, jobs were lost and jobs were created.
I've read so many articles and posts about hating AI, and I'm yet to find an argument that rationally explains it.
I saw a BlueSky post, equating all AI with Hitler. I asked why people were calling AI as bad as Hitler. One person replied, and stated that I was arguing in bad faith ("Just Asking Questions"). Here is my reply thread, rewritten for clarity:

People have said that AI 'steals' art, there are so many counterpoints. I learned to draw by copying others' art, but my sketches aren't 'stealing'. It's how I learnt. But if my mind were silicon, not organic, it ostensibly would be stealing.
I was at the forefront protesting techbros and how they introduced spyware into modern computer software and the web. But when I called the techbros out on their greed and disrespect, on twitter, and when I encouraged Linux and FOSS instead, I was called 'As bad as a vegan'. Few people cared then.
