We recommend using this feature on Kubernetes 1.34, since that version supports in-place memory limit decrease (which wasn't included in Kubernetes 1.33).

Thanks to all who contributed to this release, this release has contributions from 12 new contributors!

I have my stuff piled up in a little bedside cabinet thing. A 3d printed rack could work quite nicely here (besides the NAS in the background).
I have yet to pull the trigger on a printer, but this is more motivation to get one.

Interesting. How sturdy is it? I need something for my router, switch, and a few extras. It looks sturdy.

Is that whole structure printed?

Wow, that’s a very unfair hot take.

Very cool! Is there a way to calculate bandwidth saved after the next k8s release?

I’ve finished Season 2. I feel like missed something, definitely felt like a slog to get through. Not my favourite Star Wars.

Thank you Max Cao (github.com/maxcao13) for making this happen, and my fellow reviewers and approvers for helping get this merged.

We are looking for feedback on this feature, if you’re brave enough to try it out! It requires Kubernetes 1.33 and needs to be enabled via a flag.

I’m 3 episodes in and it’s a bit of a struggle. Hoping it picks up soon 🤞

Glad to be here! I went to the Maintainers Summit in London this year and that really made me feel part of the community.

And thanks to you for the chat nudging me in this direction!

Getting involved has been one of the best decisions I’ve made—I’ve learned so much and met so many great people. I'm excited for another year of learning and connecting.

Huge thanks to everyone who's helped me along the way!

Over the past year, I’ve become an approver for the VPA project, contributed code upstream to Kubernetes itself, and even had the chance to help out with a talk at KubeCon EU in London—something I never imagined when I first got started.

About a year later, I’m contributing to both SIG Network and SIG Autoscaling—learning a ton from amazing people like @kindnet.es and others. It's been incredibly rewarding to be part of such a vibrant project.

Back at KubeCon EU in Paris last year, I decided it was time to get involved with Kubernetes. I joined the contributor meet-and-greet and ended up chatting with @kaslin.rocks , @thock.in , and a few other friendly folks.
A Kubecon name tag for Adrian Moisey from Kubecon EU in London 2025, along with SIG Autoscaling and SIG Network badges, and various Kubernetes stickers.

And that doesn’t create a black
hole and swallow us all?

Thank you! I’ve enjoyed this as it the learning curve isn’t too steep, and its release process isn’t as rigid as Kubernetes. I have some Kubernetes contributions too, but they’re taking me more time to get done.

Vertical Pod Autoscaler 1.3.0 was released: github.com/kubernetes/a...

Since last year’s KubeCon EU, I decided to start contributing to Kubernetes, and the VPA was the project I chose to get involved with. I'm grateful for everyone's contributions that made this major release possible!
