Today is International Pronouns Day!

How we look does not always equal what our pronouns are. Creating an environment where sharing pronouns is welcome creates a safe space for all people to feel welcome to be who we are!

"Coming out" implicitly announces — to 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, allies and enemies — that queer people are aberrant. There has also been growing acknowledgement that for many members of our Queer community, this places pressure on folks who are not in a safe country or circumstances to ‘come out’.
Each year on Oct. 11, National Coming Out Day continues to promote a safe world for Queer individuals to live openly.

It should be noted that modern activists believe that the idea of "coming out" reinforces a view that heterosexuality is the norm.
In the 1980s, when many people did not know any openly 2ALGBTQIA+ people, ignorance and silence allowed homophobia to persist. Coming out was a form of activism and it was believed that when people realised they knew someone who was 2SLGBTQIA+, they would be more likely to support equality.
Started in 1988 by Rob Eichberg and Jean O’Leary in celebration of the second March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights on Oct. 11, 1987.
Exactly 6 months after International Women's Day on March 8th, October 8th's International Lesbian Day is considered to be first celebrated on March 8th, 1980 by a group of 40 Lesbians who marched through Wellington Park, New Zealand, on International Women's Day.
Today is International Lesbian Day! It is primarily celebrated in New Zealand and Australia, though we could all use more excuses to celebrate the history, impact, and diversity of the Lesbian community!
Join us in celebrating these milestones, debunking stereotypes, and exploring the path to equality for Queer Canadians. 🏳️🌈

🚫 In 1973, breaking stereotypes and debunking myths, homosexuality was removed from the DSM-5, a pivotal moment in the fight for 2SLGBTQI+ rights. 🌈

💍 Fast forward to 2005, Canada became one of the first countries to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide, celebrating love without boundaries. ❤️
🇨🇦 In 1969, Canada took a historic step by decriminalizing homosexuality, signaling a turning point for Queer rights. 🏳️🌈

📜Jumping ahead to 1982, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms was enacted, providing a legal framework to challenge discrimination and promote equality. 🌈

Dive into a journey through 2SLGBTQI+ history!

🌟 The pivotal Stonewall uprising in 1969 ignited a global movement for Queer rights.
🏳️🌈 But did you know Canada also has its own remarkable 2SLGBTQI+ milestones?
2SLGBTQI+ History Month is a month-long observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and Queer history, and the history of the gay rights and related rights movements. 2SLGBTQI+ History Month provides role models, builds community, and makes a statement about the Queer community's contributions
October is 2SLGBTQI+ History Month!

First celebrated in 1994, October was declared a national history month by President Barak Obama in 2009.
We honor their enduring connection to this land and commit to learning from their histories and experiences.
We strive to honour and respect the history, languages and culture of the diverse Indigenous people who call this territory home. The City of London is currently home to many First Nations, Metis and Inuit people today.
Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Aeolian Pride Choruses is a loving community of diverse people who gather and perform in London, Ontario, on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lūnaapéewak and Attawandaron.
And a special thank you to photographer Lauren Huston from The Wright Place for capturing these beautiful moments.

Huge thanks to the market organizers for creating the space for us and to every single person who stopped to listen and encourage us!
Reflections on a Meaningful Saturday in Strathroy 🎶

We are still filled with gratitude from our performance at Strathroy's Canvas + Culture Market last Saturday! Being invited to share our music at a non-Pride community event like this is incredibly meaningful to us.
And a special thank you to all those who stopped by to listen, to encourage us to sing out and proud. We promise to be even louder next time!
We are also honoured to have been the opening performers, both for the privilege and for the opportunity it gave for those of us who haven’t seen Strathroy’s Canvas & Culture Night Market to experience it fully as well.

Strathroy, we’ll be more than glad to come back if you’ll have us!
We are so grateful to the market organizers for extending an invitation to our chorus to perform for people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds—friends, families, and community members—as they enjoyed all that the market had to offer!
