I know this is not a key point in this disaster but these extendable ladders of the fire trucks, stretched to their maximum position, still only reach a little over 2/3 of those buildings. (Unless they can go even further but from all footage I saw this screenshot shows their tip at the tallest pt.)

The Ocean Cleanup guy is celebrating doubling the plastic catch prevented from entering the oceans. Fantastic.
If only he had focused on this right from the beginning instead of spending all that money and resources trying to fish the pacific great garbage patch.
